There are a few gallery scripts but out of the 10 or so I tried coppermine seems to be the best, it dosent look that great but it does what you expect a gallery script to do.
there are also a few pieces of software that will take large images and make thumbnails of them and you can do this all in one process instead of uploading them one by one with coppermine, but coppermine allows multiple users so you can start a gallery site with users!

I completly agree to you.It is very flexible and easy to mod gallery script.The only problem is if you have a lot of albums,then uploading pictures becomes a bit frustuating.
And another problem is that I can't create child albums

I used an older version with no troubles. One it was set up, I uploaded the pics and it made the thumbs. Added comments and it was set.
But I chunked it when VB came out with the built in albums.

Coppermine is the best, I totally agree.
Hundreds of great mods, and it's fast.

I have tried out Coppermine and it is the best... but i now go with the normal phpBB gallery mod

Taking the big picture here, create thumbnails of them, there are several pieces of software will be able to do this all in one process of downloading one by one instead of the copper mine, but Coppermine Gallery so that you can launch the site with you, the user can more users?
