You ever have one of those coding sessions with some new or radically updated forum software where you wonder why you got it?
Man I've had many a hour doing just that. From severely over loaded tech support to useless answers from others, you can waste a lot of time. In all fairness not all answers you get are useless. Some are spot on.
Me? My teacher, much to my friends chagrin, is simply clicking on a setup feature or function, changing it to a screaming neon green and going in to the forum to see what it does. I've learned a lot about VB4 in just that manner. From that I started thinking about sharing that knowledge with others. I had made some how to use this and that user feature when I was running VB3.8 and it was a smashing success.
Now my cohorts and our Mysterious Benefactor, as I have nicknamed Russell, are launching a new website that will use images to take you on a colorful guided tour of what does what from the back end of VB4 and other forum software. Others will be covering topics such as IPB and SMF and a host of others as the site grows and expands. There will be coding tut's and tips and tricks.
We're not going to be covering subjects that are covered here but instead refer them back to here. Same goes for computer questions. They will be refered to my home site of
http://www.computervitals.com. Animeappeal.com is my baby but ComputerVitals is my home.
It's not ready to go primetime just yet but when it does I'll come back and let you AdminXL members know. But if your interest has been peeked and you just got to have a look, run over to
http://www.webbsupport.info/smfAll of that will be moved down to the root directory as soon as possible. I was playing with some other software and it didn't work out so good. Trial and error. Ya learn a lot in a hurry that way.
