I know about 90% of peope now wont use phpbb2, but if your are thinking about getting it, then read this very short page of mine to help decide, bb2 or bb3?

First of all bb2, it doesnt look any where near as good a phpbb3, it doesnt offer as much controll over your board as bb3, sometimes you can get some rubbish hosting. It will be (if it hasnt already) abbanndoned because it will be "obsolete" and updates will eventualy sease, meaning you will eventualy have to upgrade to bb3, meaning alot fuss and you want to keep your forum as fuss free as possible. The smilies, in a word, suck, they are not horrible, but they are far from brilliant. Also, bb3 does not have the same security faults as bb2, bb2 is easy for hackers to get in and close you down.

i'm using phpBB3 and think that the admin control sucks..

on phpBB2 i think that the admin control is more easy then on phpBB3

and on phpBB3 its more in the design it's better.

I know alot of people who still use phpBB2, and probably always will as theyre into finding exploits and patching them (sometimes submitting them to the phpBB team for fixing :P)

I personally came into the phpBB sence as phpBB3.0.2 was out, and my first update was to phpBB3.0.3, which gave me issues (as it was my first ever update).

Ive gotten used to phpBB3 now, and it kinda makes me wonder what phpBB4 will bring...

The first ever forum software i had started with was with phpBB2 ... it was a classic at those times.. and real excellent forum software to work with. with the coming of phpBB3 things have been much more better but i still like the old one... as we say old is gold :D
