Forums typically generate revenue through adsense and other affiliate programs. I personally find it hard to promote a webmaster forum though.

I have tried writing articles and submitting them to article directories, posting in similar subject forums, commenting on relevant blogs, submitting to directories, and submitting to social bookmarking services.

I feel that is a pretty good mix of promotion techniques all free. I have also done some forum post trades and that is where most of my posts have come from.

Besides that I am just receiving spam posts that I have to delete. Just wondering if you guys could suggest any other promotional techniques.

But I thoroughly enjoy Webmaster Forums, so I had to have

The first thing you migth want to check is, "Why arnt the guests joining?" Get your forum reviewed, many promotion websites offer that as a service. Once you know why the guests arnt joining, fix it. Theres a difference between guests and members, and its your job to convert the guest to member. Find unique ways to get them to join, have contests, ect. Its not always about your traffic, but the "hook" once they get there.

The other way to promote your forums is to register also on webmaster forums that has many member.

Promoting your site through other forums is a fantastic strategem.
In order to get guests to join, make guests have more ads and less privileges than regular members.

The best thing is asked someone professional to promote it and pay the person. You can also promote your site through back links. Some Forums also entertain links from other forum. Hope all of us here help you. Good luck!

you can post your link over here so we can tell what you had done in your forums, anyway, try to create threads that are interesting and engaging for guest to join the conversation, also there should be advance privileges for members compared to guest, a lot of forums are having problems of spammers so try to make a deal of creating 15 post and up to 7 days before they can put their signature or post link in your forums, its a good idea to fight spammers..

just make your forum dofollow and allow users to add their signature links. you can see after indexing on google you are getting overloaded with online members.
